GOOGLE ALERTS - New Technology Makes Online Life Even Better
Imagine, being notified every time something new is indexed into the Google system.....
Maybe you want to see if your blog is being mentioned again....
Maybe you want to track a particular topic, like crochet knitting clubs......I have a blog about Yorkshire Terriers, so I set up an alert for Yorkshire Terriers and this morning, I got the 3 latest news items delivered to my e-mail box! It’s great! It’s going to save a lot of time and searching for those things I need and use on a regular basis.
Google Alerts are emails automatically sent to you when there are new Google results for your search terms. THIS IS LIKE HAVING A RSS READER FOR THE WHOLE INTERNET! Google has taken the concept of getting all of your favorite news in one place, a step further. Get the news first! As soon as it's put on the Internet.
Simply visit the Google Alerts home page, enter your search, the type of alert you'd like (News, Web, etc.), how often you'd like them to check for results, and your email address. When you're done, click the 'Create Alert' button. They will send you a confirmation email; clicking the link in this email will activate your Alert. It's that easy!monitor a developing news story keep current on a competitor or industry track medical advances get the latest on a celebrity or sports team You can create up to 1000 alerts! -
ok, anyone who has 1000 alerts has way too much time on their hands!

I've been using this for quite awhile to see who mentions my website. The answer: not nearly enough people!
This type of technology has almost eliminated the "press clippings" industry. Just put in your name or a friend's hobby or a client's company and you'll get fed more information than you probably want.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I just got some new ideas for some more alerts...
