ASK DAVE TAYLOR

Industry expert  Dave Taylor has a great blog and a great newsletter , called Blogsmart News,
you can subscribe
to! On his blog, he covers everything from RSS to HTML to EBAY!

In a recent entry, he discussed commitment to one's blog in the new year.

"In the blogging sphere, your resolution should be to allocate thirty minutes each and every day,
5 days a week, to your blogging efforts. -

Split up into three days of each week to posting on other people's blogs, and the other two days writing content for your own blog.  Yes, you read that right, I believe it's more important to participate in other people's blogs than to have your own."

This is good advice once your blog is up and running. Your first 30-60 days should be all about building good content, so that when readers stop by, you have something for them to read. Once you have a couple months worth of postings, it's OK to start to back off on the amount of entries, and start focusing on driving traffic. That's when I think it's a good idea to balance between writing 2-3 new posts a week and leaving 2-3 good comments a week, on other's blogs.

Check out Dave's site! There is something there for everyone!
