Confusion about RSS and the ease of using RSS

There seems to be a lot of confusion about RSS feeds so let's take a minute and try to make it easy to understand. RSS makes life easier for the blog reader. Look at this example - I read 10 blogs regularly. Or at least try to. They are my favorite blogs. Let's say, each blog updates 3 days a week. But I don't know what days the updates take place. And I subscribe via email notification. During the week, I get 30 emails!
If I subscribe to the blogs via their feed, I use my Google Reader to read all my favorite blog updates every Wednesday.Or whenever I want! I can read all the updates, all at once, all in one place. It's like my personal on-line magazine or newspaper, with all the information I want to read in one place! It simplifies my life!
And as a blog publisher, it keeps your readers happy and reading on a regular basis. I like to recommend publishers sign up with Feedburner. "FeedBurner is the world's largest feed management provider. Our Web-based services help bloggers, podcasters and commercial publishers promote, deliver and profit from their content on the Web.![]()
FeedBurner also offers the largest advertising network for feeds that brings together an unprecedented caliber of content aggregated from the world's leading media companies, A-list bloggers and blog networks and individual publishers."
You can also promote your feed! in RSS Feed Directories
There are web directories where you can submit your RSS feed and where the content from the RSS can be searched on both for general subject area and in terms of the content of individual posts as well. Some feed directories that you can start with are:Feedminer (www.feedminer.com) RSS Locator (www.rss-locator.com)
Desk Feeds (www.deskfeeds.com) 2 RSS (www.2rss.com)
